KJ's First Woodland Birthday

It's hard to believe it has been a year since little man entered the world. It has flown by so fast, I don't know how it is possible! During the past year, I've been working with 4 different companies writing and doing social media, so Mkokopelli is sometimes neglected. (Sorry! I really am!) But I have been blogging on BabyElan {daily} if you miss my fun giveaways! If you are local, check out MomsCharlotte.com and The Baby Grocery Store.

For KJ's birthday I wanted to do something fun and incorporate it into his bedroom when we were done. So I decided to go with an eco-friendly woodland theme! I searched Pinterest for 6 months, looking for ideas to make the party unique and to make sure every detail was taken care of. Yes, I wanted a Pinterest worthy woodland party! We had a lot of amazing sponsors for the party and you can find full reviews (lots of discounts too!) on BabyElan {daily} but I wanted to include here as well, because they are all awesome!
While we were in the mountains this Fall, I found a little shop on the side of the road that made wooden furniture. They were nice enough to cut us several pieces so I could use them as cake stands and centerpieces. I treated them with a beeswax and grapeseed oil finish to give them a nice shiny look.
We decided to make organic chocolate cake-logs with mushroom meringues
And KJ had a mini log cake.
We made our own banner from some scrap material we had around the house. We used velcro to tape on the high chair, which was perfect for easy removal! I also made the crowns for all of the kids for party favors. You can find easy instructions here

I also used the sugar owls with our chocolate peanut butter Owl Nests. The tags were also made by Children Inspire Design.
We also made dried Apple Leaves which were AMAZING! They were super easy to make and perfect for healthy snacks.
We made a yummy Forest Punch with orange juice and cream soda. 2 Berry Creative sent us the chalkboard signs and I used a chalkboard pen to write. The decor around the beverage dispenser is washi tape also by 2 Berry Creative
We had paper straws from Green Party Goods, 2 Berry Creative, and Susty PartyGreen Party Goods also provided the mason jar lids (with the stars) and the bamboo boats.
Susty Party sent us a party kit which included straws, cups, utensils, bowls, and plates.
I stamped the Susty Party utensils with woodland creatures and a Happy Birthday stamp from 2 Berry Creative
2 Berry Creative sent us lots of paper twine which we used as decor around the mason jar vases, handing banners, holding together our party favors, and our wishing tree labels.
I had everyone write a wish for KJ on a tag by 2 Berry Creative. I stamped foxes on each tag as well. I found a tree at Michaels and painted it brown to go with the theme.
It now sits in his room, with his Apple Park finger puppet owl, so when he is older he can look back and read what his guests wrote!
I also had the guests make finger print leaves on a picture we drew which now hangs in his room. I had meant to do a few owls, which I think I will go back and do later.
Children Inspire Design sent us several woodland prints which we hung as party decor. I taped the prints (with removable washi tape) to corkboard and then hung with removable wall tape and putty. They also now are hanging in his room!
The party favors were a huge hit thanks to Apple Park! They sent us their organic woodland blankiesrattles, Owl finger puppets, and Who Lives in the Woods book
Which little man loved and has become his lovey!!
We also had a photo booth where everyone put on handmade woodland masks and posed in front of burlap.

Hope you enjoyed as much as we did!!
