E turns 5 on Thursday! It seems like yesterday she was my little itty bitty baby. I don't know how time flew by so fast! It really seems like she went from 3 to 5 in a week. It makes sense, I went back to work full time when she was 3 and have been focused on life/work/writing rather than taking in every second with her. These are my last 7 months with her out of school- I need to slow down enough to enjoy every minute! That's why I will feature more things to do in Charlotte, NC with kids and other adventures.
Another thing happened this week that will shape this year in many ways that aren't so pleasant... My grandfather was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. He turns 80 on Friday. This is going to be a hard year for my family. I have to say I'm quite blessed that I'm 31 and I have 5 grandparents living. I think part of me has taken for granted that my family is so large and still living. I think slowing down will open more time to be spent with them, especially my granddad.
Another thing in slowing down is making time for the things I've missed out on. Like music and books. I can't tell you when I've actively searched out new music until I started working with an amazing PR company. You will see more music reviews this year. The same with books. I've signed up with an amazing online book club- which I won't be doing reviews, but more of a inspired by book post.
Something very exciting has happened- Stonyfield has asked me to become a Yo-Getter! You will see some great posts about the company, campaigns we will be running, and lots of other fun things! Here is a note from Stonyfield about the Yo-Getter program!
"Over the past several months, we at Stonyfield have met, worked with, and been following so many amazing parenting bloggers. We wanted to formalize those relationships and continue the dialogue on healthy eating.
Many of you wanted to know more about the food you feed your families and we wanted a way to empower you with information that you can share with your networks. As a result, the Yo-Getters ambassador group was born!
We wanted to get to know this passionate group of parents and bring them inside our world so that can get to know us better, too. Throughout this first year, we'd like to provide exciting and meaningful opportunities for you to engage with our brands and learn more about the mission that drives us - healthy, organic food that's better for us and the planet. The more we share with you, the more you can share with your networks- and the more people that get to know their food the better.
Since this is not a paid ambassador group, we also understand the importance of highlighting and promoting your blogs through our networks to increase traffic and readership. We are trying to communicate the same message: We're all invested in feeding our families in a healthy way, and in order to do so, we need to know what's in the food we're eating."
And last but not least, I am going to continue my relationship with Healthy Child Healthy World and try to be more active in their blogger community. I love their organization and everything that they do.
I hope these changes won't keep you from visting! But, to have a balanced life, I think it's important to have a little bit of everything. No worries- I will still continue to review eco-friendly products and host giveaways and keep you up to date with eco news!
Good for you Michelle, enjoy every moment you can with E. I find it hard to believe she will be 5, I know I've been following you for well over 2 years though so I suppose the little one has to be allowed to grow. lol Keep up the good work on good for us articles. I, for one, really enjoy them.
