Ella has a trunk full of Disney Princess dress up clothes and her room is Tinker Bell inspired. I like to feed into her imagination of fantasy worlds because face it, the real world is tough. If she believes she is "magical" and "oh so wonderful" when wearing a beautiful gown, then I embrace her self confidence. If she wants to believe everyone wearing a dress is a princess, why rain on her parade? She also believes princesses are polite, kind, adventurous and caring. I don't mind those traits being passed down and they come in handy when she's misbehaving.
The other day she put on her Belle dress and said, "it's a dream come true!" Well, on October 8th her dream will really come true! She is going to get to meet the Disney on Ice cast thanks to Mom Central and then catch the ice show! If you have a Disney lover in the house, I highly recommend taking your little ones. We went last year and the show was amazing. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it- not to mention Ella had a blast! She was 18 months when I took her and she sat through the whole show very attentively. Here is a pic from last year:

ReplyDeleteI can understand your dilemma - we're trying our best to keep licensed characters out of the house! we do have some plastic toys, but we've kept almost all cheap, junky plastic toys out (she has some little people's from my family and some that was mine when I was little!), but she sees Dora and Disney Pricesses from other kids and likes seeing them. It is a really tough balance! Sometimes it is just something harmless for fun, but other times to me it is going against what we really believe. UGH! So hard! :D
