In North Carolina we've had some wicked storms lately. There have been some pretty devastating tornadoes around us, as well as damaging hail and winds. It's not been our normal Spring showers. Ella was sent some Puddlegear rain gear in April, and I've been itching to let her try it out. We just haven't had any safe rain to go out and play in. :(

In mid-April I couldn't stand that she hadn't tried her Albin rain coat or Olle pants. So I let her put the pants on and go wading in the lake. Little did I know, that the pants weren't designed for the lake and water got in her boots... but she looked adorable and didn't get muddy!
I did find out the pants are great for kiddos who like to play in mud or even in low levels of water. Like puddles or creeks. The strap goes OVER the boots to help protect their legs from getting wet or muddy. Ella's were a tiny bit big since she is just getting into the size.

Puddlegear sizing is built to last for several years, so don't buy big!

Yesterday, it finally rained without lightening or thunder! So Ella got to put on her rain coat and go jump in the puddles. :) She was beyond excited to finally not have to use a umbrella!
Puddlegear is an amazing shop that sells non PVC rain gear that is Oko-Tex certified!! Oko-Tex certified means the garment was tested for over 100 chemicals and came back clean. Many raincoats are made with PVC which are not only horrible for the environment, but toxic for your child. Scientist believe that PVC never stops off gassing. So even coats that are over a year old can still leech onto your child and seep in their pores.

Puddlegear is a "Polyurethane-coated stretch fabric. It's a very light, soft, tear-resistant material that allows a full range of motion. Wind and watertight. Tolerates normal temperature changes and is easy to wash. Kids can move normally and not feel stiff in Atek."

Puddlegear is waterproof, machine washable, tear resistant, soft, and has reflective flash for night time safety. My favorite feature is that they don't smell like nasty plastic and are safe for the environment and your child!

Puddlegear comes in a variety of sizes (European) and styles. The sizing begins at 10 months and goes all the way up to adults. The sizing gives room for growth, so they can last for 2 years. They even have wool lined rain gear! The children styles range from jackets, pants, full piece sets, mitts, and hats.

Ella received the Albin Jacket:

• Medium Blue with black bottom, Red with a blue bottom, Pink with black bottom and Navy with a red bottom
• each one has reflective tape detail and a detachable hood. The closures are all good quality strong poppers.
• The collar is light grey soft fleece.
• This jacket can be made into a set matching with Olle Pants, Jesper Pants or the Samuel Pant. See below for descriptions. (some bottoms are black and some are navy - match accordingly)

And the Olle Pants:

• Great pants with PVC FREE vinyl patches for reinforcement on the child's bottom and each knee. Keeps crawlers knees cleaner!
• Suggested for Waldorf and Green School Programs (and kids who are hard on knees)
• Adjustable suspenders that click / lock and reflective tape on the leg.
• Pops on the side for sizing.
• Patches are on the knees and the seat (Pink with black, Red with Navy, Blue with black, Navy with red)
• They can be paired with the Albin Jacket or the Benny Jacket to complete the suit. Don't forget the Mitts!

The jackets are light weight, so perfect for any season. I know they are going to be Ella's snow gear (with multiple clothing layers) this year!!!
